The burnt down shelter is full of items from WW2

Today we finally reached the find layer of the "Hamsterbo" shelter and lot´s of different finds from the last days and hours of the shelter started to emerge!

Now we also started to find Swedish army buttons and evidence of the daily life in the cramped shelter including food ration tins, a mirror, shaving gear, charred uniform fragments etc.

Interestingly enough so far we have only uncovered incendiary rifle ammunition that contain white phosphorous associated with shelter. It may actually be that we are close to solving the mystery of why the shelter caught fire so rapidly.

The unspent incendiary bullets is dangerous even today so we collect them in a bucket with water before they are taken away to be demolished.

Tomorrow will be a very busy day indeed when we excavate the second undisturbed find layer!
